HVHS FBLA had a successful National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee! 18 students headed to the south to compete with the best in the nation in 14 different events. Our students competed hard against the best in the nation and had some pretty remarkable results.
Competing were:
Campaign for National President; Gabrielle Pendleton
Community Service Project; Kaylee VanLeuuen, Lauren Hogan
Electronic Career Portfolio; Amanda Denbeck
Emerging Business Issues; CJ Severson, Kaity Markley
Partnership with Business; Ashley Pendleton, McKenna Norris
Public Speaking II; Emily Ice
Sports Management; Xandre Pornaras
State Chapter Annual Business Report; Kaity Markley
Technology Concepts; Sean Davis
Website Development; Aaron Hernandez
Serena Kasner made the national finals in Public Speaking I, but did not make the stage finishing somewhere between 11 and 15. Still, a remarkable performance putting her in the top 15 in the country among the best freshmen and sophomore public speakers in the nation!
Ben Nelson and Travis Fitchie garnered a strong second place finish with their American Enterprise Project. This places them among the top five NLC placings HVHS has had.
Lindsey Conard, Josh Faust and Cedar Wilkening captured a second place finish in Business Financial Plan, also placing them in the top 5 all time for our chapter.
Sophomore Devon Andrade gave Hidden Valley FBLA it’s first National Champion with a dominating performance in E Business with his e-commerce website and speech.
Overall, we are very pleased and proud of our kids. All performed admirably and to the best of their ability. One of the exciting pieces is that among the group are only 3 seniors, with 5 top 2 national award winners returning!
HV brought home the three highest placings among the 8 awards won by Oregon. Centennial HS captured 3, Sherwood HS claimed 1 and Baker HS grabbed their first ever national award with past State President Mallory Bailey earning a strong 4th place showing and only female in the top 10 in Sports Management.
Way to go HV! We are gearing up for the JoCo Fair now!
- Loving it at IFL! #
We have submitted our national projects! With this task complete and the end of the school year just around the corner, one would think that we would be settling down. Haha! Seems like we have more woork now than at any time during the year.
Speeches for NLC, a national officer campaign, mustang preview, Perkins Program of Study, open house, relay for life, chapter officer elections, ecp projects, fair planning, final exams, BAAs, awards of excellence night, projects for next year, Fisher’s Conference, closing the store and concessions for the summer, arena scheduling, a VIP visiting our program, graduation and all the end of year tasks. Whew!
Add to all this the fact that we don’t know when we are going to end the year, and what we have on our hands is a train wreck…lol.
Thanks to everyone for their hard work and support of our successful year. Hard to believe we are starting the campaign to win our tenth title in a row before we have even wrapped up the current year! We have some amazing kids on a mission, seems they were not satisfied and want to really make next year special!
Lee Spargo deserves a special shout out as he has been in the classroom on a nearly daily basis to work with speeches! Gotta love his commitment and representation of the Grants Pass Kiwanis and Toastmasters. Woo whoo…Thanks Lee!

Nice Work!!!
We left HVHS at 4:30 am and are on the way to Portland for SBLC! Wooooo Whoooo!
Several Dreamweaver students have been asking about webhosting. Mr Fisher owns a webhost, but to avoid a conflict of interest, the following two hosts are recommended. They both provide great service, options and affordable pricing.
There are so many things to like about each of these, but they are two of the top rated hosts in the WORLD! So, there is no going wrong
